The range of air water generators available from AquaFromAir spans from a 12-litre residential unit to a 5,000-litre industrial system. That is a significant spread and choosing the right point on that range requires understanding a few key variables.
Variable 1: Daily water consumption
The starting point is always how much water you actually need per day. Most people significantly underestimate their consumption when they think about it in the abstract.
| Situation | Daily consumption estimate |
|---|---|
| Single person, drinking water only | 2–3 litres |
| Couple, drinking + cooking | 5–10 litres |
| Family of 4, drinking + cooking | 12–20 litres |
| Small office (10 people) | 20–40 litres |
| Café or small restaurant | 40–100 litres |
| Hotel (20–50 rooms) | 200–500 litres |
| Large resort or industrial | 500–5,000 litres |
A general rule: size up rather than down. An Air Water Generator running at 70–80% of rated capacity is more efficient and longer-lasting than one straining at maximum output daily.
Variable 2: Ambient humidity and temperature
An Air Water Generators output is directly tied to the humidity and temperature of the air the machine is working with. All rated outputs assume optimal tropical conditions; approximately 30°C and 80% relative humidity.
- Bali, tropical Indonesia, Southeast Asia: Humidity typically 70–90%. Machines operate at or near rated output year-round.
- Curaçao, Caribbean islands: Humidity 65–80%. Reliable output, slightly below peak in drier months.
- Medellín, Colombia: Humidity 70–85% in most districts. Good Air Water Generating conditions.
- Drier climates (below 40% humidity): Output drops significantly. Air Water Generation is less suitable as the primary water source without supplementary storage.
Variable 3: Installation context
- Residential — apartment or villa: the 12L or 20L unit sits on a countertop or in a dedicated corner with enough space to “breath”. It requires a standard power outlet and produces drinking water on demand via hot and cold dispensing. No plumbing needed but a constant flow of fresh air (=from outside) air is required.
- Small commercial — office, clinic, café: the 80L unit is appropriate for most small operations. Daily output comfortably covers a team of 10–20 people. From this size and higher and to store a larger capacity of drinking water, an external tank or reservoir needs to be installed, while it still runs on a standard power socket.
- Medium commercial — restaurant, school, small hotel, SPA: the 250L or 500L unit. These generators typically require a 3-Phase power circuit and ofcourse adequate ventilation. They can however be equipped with 1-Phase 110v or 220v, but 3rd party advice will probably be required. It’s starting to become a bit more serious and not simply “plug & drink”.
- Large commercial and industrial — resort, factory, community supply: the 1000L, 2000L, or 5000L units. These are serious and bespoke installations requiring site assessment and custom planning by (likely) third parties. A tailored quote is the right starting point because these use cases are typically non-standard.
Variable 4: Power supply
All AquaFromAir Residential and Commercial units (12L–500L) run on standard single-phase power with EU, US, UK, and AU plug types all available. The 1000L and above units typically cannot run without three-phase power, however the 500L p/d generator could be equipped with 1-Phase, but only on special request. For off-grid installations, e.g. solar-powered properties, remote locations, island developments, etc, the power draw of each unit needs to be matched against your generation capacity.
If you are unsure between two sizes generators, choose two smaller ones. You will probably benefit from a higher output and if maintenance is needed, you can still operate on one generator. And the cost difference is really modest. The difference between having enough water versus not quite enough — every day — is significant.
The model decision: A quick reference
- 1–2 people, home use → AWG 12L
- Family or small shared household → AWG 20L
- Small office or commercial kitchen → AWG 80L
- School, clinic, mid-size F&B → AWG 250L
- Hotel, large restaurant, small resort → AWG 500L–1000L
- Large resort, industrial, community → AWG 2000L–5000L (custom quote)
When to ask for a custom quote
For the 2000L and 5000L units, and for any installation with unusual site requirements e.g. remote location, off-grid power, complex distribution, multiple buildings; a site-specific assessment produces a more useful answer than a standard configuration. The configurator is a good starting point for standard installations; for larger or more complex projects, direct contact gets you to the right answer faster.
Choosing the right air water machine is almost always simpler than people expect once the daily consumption number is clear. Please do reach out if you feel the need to talk / discuss about your use case via the contact form or WhatsApp button.
